    I’m wondering what was the purpose of this comparison? (Comparison for the sake of comparison is a valid purpose…)

    I would say to the philosophy-or-religion -question that the definition of religion must include the supernatural. Otherwise any and all things can be called a religion. And then the word ceases to mean anything. If we want to describe things accurately, we must not introduce such a confusion.

    Epicureanism doesn’t have anything supernatural (even the divine is natural), so it would not be a religion.
